HAVANA, Cuba. The Ministry of Tourism of Cuba (MINTUR) announced that this Monday the island had received 4 million tourists, reaching the milestone 54 days ahead that in 2016.

Despite being forced to close over 16 thousand rooms in hotels in the northern keys of Cuba due to the affectations caused by Hurricane Irma, MINTUR officials are confident they will reach the 4.7 million visitors forecasted.

This effort enabled the high season to begin with all the tourist destinations in the country operating and with higher standards, by repairing the facilities of the keys Santa María, Coco and Guillermo, the most affected by the cyclone.
